He was not only a singer but a spiritual writer, social reformer, composer and a philosopher, considered as an icon of Bengali culture. He inspired many song lovers, the poets and thinkers like Rabindranath, Nazrul Islam including Allen Ginsberg and Albert. Lalon was placed at number 12 in the BBC’s poll of the Greatest Bengali of All Time in 2004.
